The project involves the construction of lecture theatres, laboratories, computer rooms, workshops, exhibition areas, industry/University interaction space, and restaurant for the UCC Department of Computer Science and the Department of Microelectronic Engineering.
The development will consist of the construction a five-storey reinforced concrete framed building approx. 102m long by 61m wide with a basement level service and plant area. The gross floor area of the building is approx. 15,781m2.
The building will be glazed to the north and south longitudinal elevations with the east and west elevations being clad in natural terracotta panels. A full height atrium will run the length of the building and will be covered by glazed rooflights.
In addition the development will include:-
external car parking for approx 158no. cars, road widening to the Western Road with new filter lane and entrance New roadside boundary wall Pedestrian bridge over the Curraheen River
